Perfect Sunday

Acadia turned seven months today and she was so happy about it!

She was so happy about it she wanted to show off. I've been helping Acadia try to sit on her own for a few weeks now. She surprised us and sat all by herself for the first time today. Scott and I were such the proud parents!

We had some friends over for brunch. I met Christi and Carol at a mom's group that I go to. We each have a little girl and they were born within days of each other. I think the girls were about 8 weeks old when we first met...and we all immediately hit it off. Today was the first day we met each other spouses for the first time. We had so much fun I think we'll definitely be doing it again!

Here's Autumn...

And here's Emily...

We somehow forgot to get a picture of all three until Autumn and Emily were in their carseats. But at least we got something. Scott and I kept teasing that Acadia looks like "old man McGee" in this one.

It's been awhile since we've had a group over and we forgot how much we like to. I have a feeling with the weather getting warmer this is going to be a regular occurrence!

Spring has sprung!

At least it felt that way this weekend! Friday and Saturday was about 70 degrees and we took full advantage of it (pictures to follow soon)!

Acadia and I hung out Friday and took a couple long walks. I strapped her on to me in the morning and we headed to our playgroup at a local store. Finally I was able to figure out how to "wear" her in my wrap. I think that's going to be my favorite way to carry her now. After her afternoon nap we met up with a coworker of Scott's and her son and went for a long stroller walk around a nearby lake. It couldn't have been a better day!

Saturday was another great day. In the morning we walked around downtown Salem and in the afternoon we took another stroll along the water. We're so lucky that it's literally right out our front door.

Yesterday was a little cooler out, but still nice enough to get out. Acadia didn't want to nap at home so we bundled her up in her stroller and took off. I think we were out for almost 3 hours! It felt so good to get some fresh air and exercise.

Today it's gray and cool, so we'll see if we get out. Hopefully we'll do something.

6 months and still smiling

This past Sunday, Acadia turned 6 months. I still can't believe it! Time seems to be flying by and I don't think it's going to slow down any time soon.

We got some professional pictures taken, but here's some new favorites taken at home.

It took a few days to get going, but Acadia now LOVES her food! So far she's had cereal,
carrots, sweet potatoes, apples, pears, and bananas. For Grandma Mary's sake, we're holding
off on the peas!

This elephant is one of Acadia's favorite toys. Most days you can find her
chewing on the trunk. I think someone may be teething!

Our little girl is so photogenic.
It's easy to take good pictures when you have such a good subject!

Yes, I'm biased. But isn't she just too cute?

Sleep Update

Since posting about Acadia being too mobile for her Nap Nanny, she seemed to get a little better in it.

But she had her 6 month check up on Friday and I talked to her pediatrician about her sleeping. He said that now that she's mobile she should be put in her crib so she can find a position that she's comfortable in. If she's buckled in, she can't do that.

So Friday night was the first attempt. I did the usual bedtime routine and then put her in her crib. She was asleep in minutes and slept the whole night through. Sure she woke up once or twice, but she does that normally and she was able to put herself back to sleep.
Same thing happened Saturday for her morning nap. I thought to myself..."I was worried about nothing".

Then came her afternoon nap. Acadia tossed and turned and fussed for almost an hour before falling asleep. And instead of sleeping for her usual 2 hours, she slept for less than 1. Luckily, she took another short nap later in the day, but you could tell she was exhausted.

It took her a while to fall asleep last night, and after 3 hours of sleeping she woke up scared and crying. Don't think she's used to so much room. But after getting her pacifier back, she again slept the whole night through.

Today her naps have been short to say the least. 30 minutes each and it took her at least that long to fall asleep. I'm thinking it must have been the four shots she got on Friday that tuckered her out!

I really want to just put her back in the Nap Nanny to sleep, but I figure we're already committed and going back will only put off the inevitable. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that a couple more days will put her right back on track.

Daddy's girl

I don't know who's happier in this picture, Scott or Acadia?

The past few weeks have been a blur. With Scott travelling for work and Acadia and me heading home last weekend it seems that February has just flown by. Acadia's gotten so much bigger and more active these past few weeks too. It's hard to believe that next week she'll be 6 months old. How did that happen?

Here's some recent pics of our big girl...

This picture was taken earlier in the month. I now have taken everything off the top of her playmat. Acadia moves around so much and she was getting frustrated every time her head would hit the arch. I have to say it was pretty funny to watch though.

Hanging out in her Bumbo seat.

Our trip to the museum.

As we were taking a few pictures of Acadia, a nice woman asked if we would like one of all of us. It was great because we have so few of the whole family.

And here's our happy girl first thing in the morning. This is my favorite time of day.
She has the biggest smile on her face and you can't help but smile
yourself when you see it.

Houston...we have a problem

Since getting the Nap Nanny for Acadia she's been a great sleeper. And I mean great. She sleeps roughly 12 hours a night and can stay and hang out in her crib until I get her breakfast (and my coffee) ready in the morning.

She's been getting pretty mobile the last few weeks though. So mobile that she tries to climb out of the Nap Nappy. Not all the time, but enough to make me realize I'm going to have to start putting her in her crib alone.

I tried this twice. Same results both times. Last night she woke around 3am due to a wet diaper (she must have had a bottle stashed in her crib it was so wet, but that's another story). When I peeked in on her, through the monitor, she was hanging off one side of it. Now, she gets strapped into this contraption and I wrap a blanket around her legs and torso pretty snug so you wouldn't think she could move much. So I went into her room, took her out of the Nap Nanny, moved it out of her crib (yes, I changed her diaper too), and then put her directly in the crib. About an hour later she was still awake, rolling around, playing, and otherwise keeping me awake. Then the crying began. I knew she was tired so I went back in and put everything back in the crib. Within seconds (literally) she was out.

So now what do I do??? I think I'm going to have to start putting her in her crib alone and just let her figure it out and cry. Kind of hard right now though as we're heading home this weekend. Hopefully she can stay put for just a few more days!
