The past few weeks have been a blur. With Scott travelling for work and Acadia and me heading home last weekend it seems that February has just flown by. Acadia's gotten so much bigger and more active these past few weeks too. It's hard to believe that next week she'll be 6 months old. How did that happen?

This picture was taken earlier in the month. I now have taken everything off the top of her playmat. Acadia moves around so much and she was getting frustrated every time her head would hit the arch. I have to say it was pretty funny to watch though.

As we were taking a few pictures of Acadia, a nice woman asked if we would like one of all of us. It was great because we have so few of the whole family.

Houston...we have a problem

Since getting the Nap Nanny for Acadia she's been a great sleeper. And I mean great. She sleeps roughly 12 hours a night and can stay and hang out in her crib until I get her breakfast (and my coffee) ready in the morning.

She's been getting pretty mobile the last few weeks though. So mobile that she tries to climb out of the Nap Nappy. Not all the time, but enough to make me realize I'm going to have to start putting her in her crib alone.

I tried this twice. Same results both times. Last night she woke around 3am due to a wet diaper (she must have had a bottle stashed in her crib it was so wet, but that's another story). When I peeked in on her, through the monitor, she was hanging off one side of it. Now, she gets strapped into this contraption and I wrap a blanket around her legs and torso pretty snug so you wouldn't think she could move much. So I went into her room, took her out of the Nap Nanny, moved it out of her crib (yes, I changed her diaper too), and then put her directly in the crib. About an hour later she was still awake, rolling around, playing, and otherwise keeping me awake. Then the crying began. I knew she was tired so I went back in and put everything back in the crib. Within seconds (literally) she was out.

So now what do I do??? I think I'm going to have to start putting her in her crib alone and just let her figure it out and cry. Kind of hard right now though as we're heading home this weekend. Hopefully she can stay put for just a few more days!

The past week

The past week for us here has been a little crazy.

It started last Friday when we got not one, but multiple viruses on the computer. I logged onto a website that I found in Fit Pregnancy magazine and that was the end of it. The viruses started eating away at everything on our main computer. Luckily we have most thing saved on an external hard drive and Scott was able to get what wasn't saved on that downloaded. So for now I'm using my laptop (which I forgot how much I liked). But I can't find the cord to my camera, so for now you're getting pictureless posts :)

Saturday we gave Acadia cereal for the first time. She was a little confused with it, but I'm happy to report she's now eating it like a champ. We even gave her some pears a few days later and loved those too! Slowly we'll be adding a few more new treats each week to get Acadia used to different tastes. We just need to teach her that you can't talk while eating. It makes it difficult for the food to stay in your mouth.

Acadia's been doing great while I'm off at work. The only issue is that she doesn't get her little late afternoon nap in. You wouldn't think a 20 minute catnap would make that much of a difference. But it sure does. Every day I pick her up she's got big tears rolling down her face and her eyes are all red and droopy. I race to get her home, fed, and put to bed as soon as I can, but it never seems early enough. Because of this, Acadia's been waking up earlier and earlier. Like 4:00 in the morning earlier. On Thursday I finally got her to go back to sleep around 6:15 or so, only to have to wake her up to take her to daycare. I'm sure once she gets more used to things, it will all work out though.

And I think Acadia's started teething. While no teeth have made their appearance yet, Acadia is full of drool and boogers...and she's not sick. Scott goes to Costa Rica this week for work, and I'm just hoping this isn't going to be the week that all that starts. But if it is, it is.

So let's just say I'm happy it's the weekend. The plan is to stay in, relax and have all of us get some sleep. Hopefully that will happen.

Water Baby

Scott and I joined the local YMCA this weekend. We were pleasantly surprised how new and clean it was. And it helped that it's so family oriented. Now we can go workout and drop Acadia off at their daycare center. Or we can all go swimming...which is what we did today!

And once she was in she loved it! She was so interested in everything and everyone. No tears at all!!






Scott smiled like the proud papa that he is the whole time!



Scott calls Acadia his "little surfer girl" and I have a feeling she's going to live up to that name! Only one more month until she can take swim lessons...we can't wait!

Aaaaaggggghhhhhhhh!!

Can I vent??? That's kind of a hypothetical question because I'm going to anyway...

Let's start with getting Acadia baptized. Seems pretty easy. You take a class at church, pick a date and go for it. Well, the first time we went to take a class was before Christmas. We got a babysitter-which might I add isn't the easiest when you don't know a lot of people in your area-and headed out one Monday night. All the lights at the church are off. We call. "Oh...that class was cancelled due to..." No problem. We found another church that had classes on the weekend. We went today. We got there...again, all the lights are off. We rang the doorbell of the office. No one again. Seriously??? We're hoping there's another one in the coming weeks as we plan to get Acadia baptized early March. If we were getting her baptized at the same church we took the class this would probably be easier...but oh well.


Next...as I'm typing this our pipes our banging (we have radiators that need to get looked at), that only adds to my frustration. Someone looked at the heating system last week and said that if left like it is the building could blow up. Nice.

Add to that the usual bit of too much to do, not enough time, blah blah blah...

I guess the real reason I'm stressed about everything is that I go back to work this week. I'm lucky that I only have to go back part time and that we found a great person to look after Acadia while I'm working. But she's not me. I worry if Acadia's going to sleep while she's there. Will her schedule get thrown out the window? Will she even know I'm gone? Do I remember how to use my brain after the past four and a half months? Plus a million other questions I can't even begin to list. I know people do this every day. I'm just sad to have to leave this little face, even if it is only a few days a week.
