Perfect Summer Weekend

We did a lot this past weekend and had so much fun doing it!



We picked blueberries...



Picked up old fashioned root beer and cream soda at a local farm...



Scott finally got to hit the ocean...



And surfed a few waves...




And I practiced some yoga!

I know...we're always doing something crazy! But we have so much fun doing it! Can't wait for next weekend!

Fun Fourth Weekend

Our friends, Kirk and Krupa came out east for the long holiday weekend and we took full advantage of it!

They, along with another friend Josh, bought us a crash pad as a wedding gift. For those of you that don't know what it is, a crash pad is what saves you from breaking anything when you fall while rock climbing.

We had a great weekend as you can see.




Pawtuckaway State Park...where we did all our climbing. The weather was great and the scenery wasn't too bad either!



We went bouldering, which means you don't use any ropes (hence the crash pad), but you also don't go as high as you would if you were roped up...at least in theory you don't. On a few of these rocks, the problem wasn't getting up, it was finding a way down!







One of the 2 campsites we stayed at. We did a combo of tent camping and car camping.




Scott did a lot of climbing. Here he is taking a little break. I think we were all ready for one at this point!




We stumbled upon a pick-your-own strawberry farm on the way out of the park. None of us had ever seen strawberries so red and fresh. We just had to stop and pick some.

Scott got the fun job of carting the crash pad and all the gear...



But because of that I was able to climb with more energy!


Let's just say this weekend got us so excited to be in the outdoors. I think this is just the beginning of many more trips like this!

Re-do #1

I think everyone's heard our story of the crazy paint job at our apartment. Well, we couldn't take it any longer. Splotchy sky blue walls just weren't cutting it in the bedroom. Especially since all our stuff is dark brown and burgundy. So we finally painted this weekend and we're finished with the redecorating of our room. Here's the finished project.




We picked up the statues in the corners from Thailand. Their name is Bert. Bert is supposed ensure a happy marriage and bring romance and tranquility to the home. So far, so good!



This is another piece we picked up in Thailand. We found it at a night market in Bangkok and just couldn't pass it up. It goes much better with beige than blue!




We're lucky that our bedding just happened to match it all. We wanted to stick with the asian theme and it seems to work!


One room down, a couple more to go. We're actually pretty close to having the whole place finished so it can feel more cozy. I don't think most people spend so much time decorating an apartment, but to us we feel more at home if it reflects us and our personalities. Feel free to come visit to see it for yourself!

Back to reality

I had a few pictures from our first week back in Boston, but we're having technical difficulties and only one of them would download. I'll have the post the rest later.


But below is how we made it through the acclimization back to the real world.





We also hit the beach and redecorated the apartment with some fun stuff from Thailand. After relaxing as much as we did on vacation, we're trying to bring a little more zen to our place. We have candles everywhere and a few other fun knick knacks. I think it just might do the trick.

The Honeymoon

We're back from the honeymoon and it was amazing to say the least. I think we could have stayed much longer. But we had to come back to reality at some point. We took so many pictures it was impossible to post all of them. But here's a taste of what we saw in Thailand. I'm sure I'll be posting more as we get them.

Some of the amazing food we ate. And this was pretty much every day. My mouth waters just looking at it!


This is the highest temple in Bangkok. I had to wear a wrap since I wasn't dressed "appropriately". The stairs were the steepest we've ever seen!

Our first night we were the only ones at the restaurant at the hotel. Not a bad time for a private candlelit dinner.

Everything we saw was absolutely amazing. Scott and I would love to be able to go back one day, but even if we don't, we have some great memeories!!

5 days to go!!

I can't believe we only have 5 more days to go until Scott and I get married! We've been engaged for 9 months now and that time has flown by. So much has happened since then that some days it doesn't seem real. Most people take things one step at a time, not us. Soon after we got engaged, we moved, got new jobs, ran a marathon and so much more. While Scott and I have a great life together already, we are so excited to begin a new chapter as husband and wife.

I have to say, with everything we've been through the past few months, I wouldn't have been able to do any of it without Scott. I know it may sound cheesy, but he truly is my best friend. We might not follow all the "mainstream" rules of life, but whatever we do, we do it together. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

I am so excited for next weekend and to be Mrs. Scott Vogel.

Oh yeah, Thailand won't be too bad either!

A Tale of 2 Marys

For those of you that don't know, both my mom and Scott's mom are named Mary. We joke that we have Mary #1 and Mary #2.

I figure since the wedding's 2 weeks away, now we be a good time to share all the good stuff they've done for us.

Mary #1 (my mom)

Where do I start???

I can't count all the phone calls we've had about dresses, shoes, favors, guests, food. We've covered everything. We've gone shopping together. Actually, mom's turned in to my personal shopper. Every few weeks I'll get a call, "I'm in XXXXX (name of store) and I see XXXXX that I think would be great for the wedding. Want me to pick it up?". Because of this, I have jewelry, a purse, a card holder, tons of decorations. You name it, she got it. Plus I've had so much delivered home to be brought up to Wisconsin. Oh...and she's coming up north early to help us get everything ready.

Mary #2 (Scott's mom)

Scott's mom has been awesome. Her and Bob (Scott's dad) are already up in Wisconsin getting everything ready. They had to open up their cabin before anything. They're busy picking up drinks, decorations and pretty much any last minute thing they can! And they drove over 12 hours with a trailer to get everything there. You guys rock!!

I don't think Scott and I would be able to pull all of this off without all they're help. We keep getting asked, "Isn't it hard to plan a wedding when you aren't there?" The answer has been no. But the truth is we've had so much help getting to this point.

Now obviously, Scott and I wouldn't be here without them. But this wedding wouldn't be here without them either. So this is our way of saying thanks. You're the best!!
