Weekend Adventures

Last weekend we took Acadia and Rylan on our first family hike. We all hopped in the car, drove about an hour and a half to New Hampshire and found a "kid friendly" mountain to climb.

Acadia was a little skeptical...

So was I with the way it all started off. It was off a dirt road that we kept passing up. We finally decided to stop because both kids were getting hungry and restless. Nothing like a roadside picnic and diaper change to start off the adventure!

It was all worth it though because at the top there was an amazing view.

The rest of the weekend was spent playing (and cleaning up after playing)...

And working on new found skills...

But from their faces, I think Acadia and Rylan had fun!

June Happenings

It's been a busy, but fun month. I don't even know where the past few weeks have gone.

Rylan and Acadia are both getting so big...

They're really playing well together...

Scott enjoyed Father's Day, his first as a dad of two...

Rylan has started smiling and cooing, though I can't seem to get him to smile for the camera just yet...

Acadia takes after her mama with her choice of fashion, though she has more fun doing it with her daddy...

And of course, she just keeps eating away!

Big girl with a big boo boo

Let's just say this week didn't start off so well.

After Scott left for work on Monday, I decided to make a nice breakfast for Acadia. While I was making pancakes, she played in the kitchen (nothing new there). She was running around and fell (again, nothing new). I knew she was going to cry because of the loud thud, so I quickly picked her up to give her a hug. When I pulled her head up to take a look, that's when I realized that this wasn't just a bump. Somehow, when Acadia fell, her forehead hit the radiator. It split wide open and I knew she was going to need stitches.

I loaded both kids into the car, called Scott, and headed to the Emergency room. Scott stayed with Acadia during the stitches, while I was a few doors down with Rylan (they didn't want him in the room during all of it). That was tough hearing my little girl cry (or scream) and not being able to do anything about it. Thankfully, after the first shot to numb her forehead, she did really well. The nurses even thought she might fall asleep during it!

Acadia ended up getting about 5 stitches that come out tomorrow. Hopefully she won't have too much of a scar but only time will tell.

Funny though, you'd never know that Acadia hurt herself by her actions. By the time we got home, she was running around like nothing happened. Now she just makes us extra nervous!

Chris's Pregnancy In Review

Similar to what we did when Chris was pregnant with Acadia -- we took pictures each week of her pregnancy with Rylan. Below is a little video documenting the pregnancy.

Spring Is Finally Here!

Spring has definitely sprung in New England! Acadia and I have been out and about taking it all in. In the last few weeks we've played at the beach & park, biked, hiked and even went to go see Sesame Street Live.

Below is a video that in my opinion captures the joy of parenthood and the simplicity of fun through a child's eyes.

We used our REI dividend and some Christmas money to buy a bike trailer for the kids. As you can see both Acadia and Big Bird are pretty big fans of cycling already. Needless to say Rylan has some growing to do before he can join us on a ride.

Trust everyone is enjoying their Spring as much as we are. Looking forward to many more adventures that include Chris and Rylan in the months ahead.
